I just can't get Frog to do my bidding…

I've tried the beta as well as the 022 download. I'll deal with them both separately:

The 022 downloads (both zip and tar.gz) both create an empty config directory and give the following "helpful" error in my web server's error log, when I try to hit /admin/:

2007/12/03 18:53:11 [error] 23851#0: *128 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP Notice: Undefined index: SCRIPT_NAME in /home/iamcode-gaia/ht/env/frog.php on line 17 PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_magic_quotes_gpc() in /home/iamcode-gaia/ht/env/frog.php on line 65" while reading response header from upstream, client: 208.38.204.184, server: gaia2.iamcode.net, request: "GET /admin/ HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://127.0.0.1:7476", host: "gaia2.iamcode.net", referrer: "http://gaia2.iamcode.net/install/index.php"

I KNOW that I saw something about that somewhere on this board, but I'm not finding it now. :( (I was working with the beta at the time, and glossed over that thread, as I wasn't getting an error like that with the beta.)

Also, 022 gives me this error upon setup: (Something similar for the beta, but at least the beta puts a stub into the config.php that I can edit manually!)

2007/12/03 18:53:09 [error] 23851#0: *128 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP Notice: Undefined index: SCRIPT_URI in /home/iamcode-gaia/ht/install/index.php on line 39" while reading response header from upstream, client: 208.38.204.184, server: gaia2.iamcode.net, request: "POST /install/index.php HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://127.0.0.1:7476", host: "gaia2.iamcode.net", referrer: "http://gaia2.iamcode.net/install/"

As for the beta. It irks me. ;) I first updated the config.php (see above and below for why). Then, since I got a blank page on /admin/ I went through each and every .php file searching and replacing __( with (, since that supposedly would fix it. No go. And no errors to the log to help me out. Any tips on what else to try?

Also, neither 022 nor the beta captured my settings for the site "name" and "tagline" into the config.php. Dunno if that's "normal", or if it helps you with knowing what's going wrong.

As for my setup, I'm running nginx/0.6.20 with a PHP 6 snapshot with FastCGI, on Slackware 12. A bit of a borderline configuration, yes. But it's "light" and fast! (And as you can probably guess, I'm no stranger to debugging; as long as there's output!)

I'm completely and utterly at a loss as to how to proceed next. It looked, at first, as though Frog was going to be my savior: small, light, simple, and fast to set up! I'm starting to question that now, though, as much as I hate to admit a promising piece of software doesn't cooperate with my setup. :( (I get the feeling that it was only tested with Apache's PHP module.)

Philippe, even if I end up going another route (i.e. not Frog) with this site (due to time constraints), I still want to use Frog on another site (with the same configuration). So, if you need my phpinfo(), I can provide you the URL by email. Just let me know. Maybe my case will help with robustness. ;)

Thanks, in any case. And keep up the good work on creating what may end up being the best "small" CMS out there! :D

Since I can't find a readily-available email link for you, here's the URL: http://gaia2.iamcode.net/index2.php

I've enabled everything I can, so it's a somewhat large-ish output! :)

As I had narrowed things down to Frog and one other lightweight CMS (I gave up after about 50 pages on Freshmeat… after trying a few that had been recommended to me ages ago, and don't work on modern versions of things… Requiring nothing newer than PHP 4 or Perl 4? EW!), I'll poke at the other one to keep me occupied for the moment. But it looks to really be overkill for my needs. (And they pride themselves on the inflexibility of it; that doesn't bode well for their future!)
