Hi Philippe, I will tidy up the CSS files and post them here in the next few days... Is it possible to enable theming of the login page too? Seems to be coming from a separate |

not now, but I will do it in 2 ou 3 hours :) I will include login.css in admin.css then assign theme to login layout too |

@milkshake: great job - you've got some nice palettes happening there! @philippe: it will be nice to have login.css combined with admin.css -- I used it to try to tell my installations of Frog apart. :) By the way, while I was playing with this, I came up with this adaptation of your "frog" logo. I have it as a transparent .PNG if anyone wants it....

@milkshake: just looked at "kuler" -- interesting! I couldn't work out how to link to any particular palette, though! :( I thought "Pistachio" by "matthepworth" looked like it could work for Frog... |

@David --- thanks for the feedback :) I don't think there is a way to link to a palette on kuler, kind of dumb. "matthepworth" is prolific! He really has a good eye for colour. Here is Pistachio flavored Frog...

@milkshake: Wow! Fast! You must have this down to a sciene (or is it an art?!) by now! And it does look nice! (IMO!) |

@David I'd like to take credit, but the truth is the admin.css is really well organised, and there are only about 5 major elements of the layout, so theming is a snap ;) |

OK, this is nothing like Milkshake's great work! I'm just messing around, really. But it does show that if someone wanted to customize the backend for a client, it really is not difficult. Of course, you knew that already. This one has a striped-Web-2.0 bg image in the header. Doesn't show up well in this small size. You can see the bigger size at Flickr. |

OK. The pic didn't get linked. I'll try again:

Hey nice little Frog ;) the contrast with the text and the background of the header is a little weird !! |

Here's a concept I threw together a few nights ago. I haven't actually sliced it up or coded the XHTML/CSS for it, however a concern among the devs was file size - I changed a few gradients from the original and this is the result. If sliced up, the images would weigh in at 4.28 kB, so it wouldn't really add anything to the page weight. Also, I've taken the liberty of adding a few extra elements to the toolbar to simulate what it might look like with some plugins enabled.

I like it, I think you should take Denny's design and run with it. |

Hum, I like the design, but one off the reasons Radiant is great is the "Simple, Brandable Administration." As stated here: http://radiantfactory.com/radiant/ "Radiant’s administration interface is clean and simple. Your site is built to be easy to update and maintain. Additionally, we can customize the look and branding of your admin interface. When you deliver to your client, you deliver your product." Exactly what I think, the admin must be simple to update, to match the branding off the frontend, so no images only CSS. |

I guess it comes down to if Frog should be its own thing, or stay closely linked to Radiant. I like the simplicity of the Radiant default theme, and it is clearly branded red for Ruby IMO the Frog theme should stay close to Radiant, but be branded green for Frog (any other colour doesn't seem logical) |

As long as Frog is XHTML compliant on the backend, then regardless of what the theme ends up being it can be easily styled however the administrator pleases - images or not, green or otherwise. So however it turns out, we can all be happy with just a little bit of CSS wizardry. |

I agree with everybody. :) Denny's theme is lovely! I also think milkshake has a point in comment #42 -- if the connection to Radiant is worth maintaining, at least in the short run, then probably the greater the "family resemblance" (at least "out of the box"), the better that will be. Have a look here for example. Perhaps once FrogCMS takes over the world :) things will be different. |

I am happy with any clean, usable theme, as long as the default is some shades of green. That's just good marketing theory. |

@philippe, TheJester12, David - Thank you, I'm glad you like it! @milkshake, David - Radiant is a wonderful program and obviously Frog wouldn't be here without it (at least not in the same form it is today), but I hesitate to say that we should continue to build a blatant PHP copy of Radiant. I think that being an open source project, the developers must to be happy with the product they are releasing or they'll be willing to spend less and less time on it; the best way to be completely devoted to the project is to have it be your "baby" and raise it the way you see fit. Right now, everything Radiant is doing is awesome, but what happens if they take it down a path that we don't feel comfortable traveling down? Do we continue to copy and lose interest in the project or do we blaze our own trail? What about if we have a great idea that we want to implement but Radiant does not? I think the two systems are already showing minor differences and they will only continue to grow apart. The important thing is that they are both a unique concept compared to other CMSs in their respective languages and are already generating a lot of buzz. In the end, the developers and the community will have to decide what direction the product will take, but I personally feel Frog should be its own CMS :) @milkshake - I agree with using green, and I know Philippe does too. I mocked up a green version last night, but we are still discussing some things among the devs and decided it's probably not in the best interest of the project to start throwing a bunch of stuff out there yet... so until everyone agrees I won't be posting anymore mockups. It looks the same, just a different color scheme, so use your imagination. Excellent suggestion though :) |
