Themes and directories

In this forum post there was a suggestion that Frog might use a directory-for-each-theme system. I still think this is a good idea, but over the holidays I would like to try to port one or two free/opensource CSS layouts to Frog -- but if there is a new layout for "themes" about to happen, it would probably be wise to wait until that is done. So (Philippe? :) is there any advice here? Where is this idea (directory-per-theme) at now? Meanwhile, for those celebrating Christmas, I hope it is a happy and peaceful one! |

Hm. My understanding is that Frog is BSD-licensed. So, beware of how you port GPL-licensed stuff to Frog... |

Thanks for the heads-up on licensing. Frog is MIT licensed = X/11, I presume, which according to the Wikipedia artcle is GPL compatible. Some of the CSS templates I'm looking at have "creative commons" attribution licenses -- that seems the main choice. Some, like Andreas Viklund's don't seem to have an obvious "named" license, but make usage free. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on this side of things! Meanwhile, it would still be good to know about the theme/directory issue! :) |

Hi David, currently I don't have the time now, but if you wish you can port a theme that I've made some time ago for sNews CMS that won the contest for sNews 1.5 Default Template. You can find the theme here, or if you wish I can send you a .zip with the html, css and images. |

Nice one Vitor! Looks like Philippe has already got the bulk of that in the default Frog installation, though. |

Bump! Has there been any progress in thinking about directories and themes as Frog develops towards a v1.0 release? |

David I work on a big project and I do not have a lot of time for Frog by now. But the directory theme is on is way (in the todo list) |

Thanks for that Philippe. As it turns out, I don't have much time for porting themes, either! :) But I was still curious. Good luck with your project, and we'll hope that Frog keeps hopping along. |
