It disables the entire site over the config being writable, I cant change this with FileZilla for some reason, and I have to login to cpanel and edit it in the file manager anytime I make a change :( Then the files area is all different in theme categories, why would anyone change website themes that much where they need a theme folder? Is it safe to use .94 still? |

Hi JREAM:
More precisely over having permissions set to 777. But 750 (
That is just a different convention. The old 0.9.4 system still works fine, of course. The new system simply sets a “standard” for future development.
Well, they might not! ;) But the advantage of the new system is that it keeps the themes area much tidier, and makes shoving in new ones much easier.
I can’t see why not! |

There is a wierd thing happening with the latest version of Filezilla, in that the checkboxes for each state does not appear ticked or un-ticked – not sure if this might be your issue. But you can also enter the number such as 750 or whatever like David suggested. HTH Dave Porter |

If Filezilla is a problem, or might be, you could always try WinSCP and see how that works for you. I have both, but my “default” is WinSCP. |

Hi David, I took a look at WinSCP – At first I thought it was a bit of an odd interface and not all that friendly, but have persisted with it and now I really like it. Particularly like the F5 and F6 for copy and move ( the same as Xplorer2 my favorite Windows Explorer, which originally comes from Norton Commander of course ! ) ( For those old enough to remember ! ) cheers Dave |

BTW. I also agree it is annoying that the whole site gets disabled if Frog has write access to config PHP. It would be better to just show an warning in the admin. I also do have a case in one hosting where Apache process is ran as the same user as the FTP user (quite common actually). I have to keep config.php as chmod a-w. SCP clients give write access back each time config.php is saved… |
